Some players have been able to temporarily fix this problem by disabling USB devices and certain drivers, but we realize this was in no way ideal.įor that reason, this Friday, November 21st, we’ll be releasing Patch 1.4.0 for PC that should remedy the problem and allow you, as a PC player to enjoy the game as normal. We are pleased to say that we have been able to remedy the issue (identified in our Known Issues list yesterday) which caused some PC versions of Far Cry 4 to go directly to a black screen due to the presence of external USB devices. I have been monitoring the ubi support forum, and people have just started posting the following emails as having been received from Ubi in response to tickets for this issue: Many people have been able to work around this by unplugging/disabling certain USB devices, but some cannot get it to launch no matter what. If you are like me you are in the unfortunate position of being unable to launch FC4 on PC at all, due to a hanging black fullscreen window after the splashscreen. Oh, and the regular Ubi forums have been 'down for maintenance' for about 3 hours now. Please stay tuned to the Live Update Thread, and please log in and voice your concerns if you are having the same issue it probably won't get a fix out any sooner, but enough negative attention might convince Ubi to improve the service for future release, and may expediate confirmation or otherwise that this email is accurate. EDIT 3: CONFIRMED! Update/fix/patch news for all platforms can be found from here.ĮDIT: To clarify, this is not yet fully confirmed by Ubi support, just a couple of people copy-pasting the same email into the Live Update thread.ĮDIT 2: A mod is present on the thread currently, but actively avoiding questions of confirmation of these emails re the Friday 1.4.0 patch. ![]()
